Restoring my faith in mankind

The other day I was sat in my car, happily waiting at the traffic lights. Crossing in front of me, I saw a lovely old lady who was slowly ambling along, her back was very hunched, and she held a walking stick by her side. Behind her, a younger gentleman (by younger, I mean he was probably 70 and she was 85) saw her walking, wasted no time in catching up next to her and gracefully extended his arm out for her, like a true gent. She looked up at him, with the most grateful smile on her face, he reciprocated that smile down at her and she looped her arm around his. They took their time to cross the road, and quite rightly so! After he dropped her off on the other side, they exchanged a few kind words and both carried on with their day.

It was truly one of the most beautiful moments I've ever witnessed and I couldn't wipe the smile off my face for the rest of the day. Seeing things like that restores my faith in mankind.

If there are any guys reading this, take note from that kind man. It's little things like that, which sets apart the great from the good.

Inspiration

It's January - it's gloomy. We all need to listen to some of those cheesy quotes from time to time as a pick me up. Sometimes it's just easier to copy quotes from Pinterest than try to write anything remotely coherent.

Dinglefarm Tea Room

My bessie, Fran let me in on a little secret in Warrington. Don't tell anyone, but I'm going to let you in on it. Trust me, it's a gooden. She told me of this little tearoom where magical tea's brewed and there's copious amounts of delicious homemade cakes and desserts for you to ogle (and consume).

The Dinglefarm tearoom is a quaint little teamroom and art studio situated just down the road from me (yes, I'm so lucky look at me). So on New Year's Eve (Happy New Year, by the way) we trotted down to have a little gander.

It's by far one of the cutest places I've been in a long time, you have to ring a crystal bell to get the lady's attention - which I did feel a tiny bit weird doing - it's reminded me of playing 'servants' with my sisters, perhaps it brought back memories of me always being 'volunteered' as the servant - it sucks being the youngest. Was still a good experience and made us giggle.

The tea is served in the loveliest China cups, it made me think their tea had slightly magical properties. We ordered a round of hot potato cakes, served with lashings of butter and chilli jam - the moment when the butter melts is something I'll never forget, definitely recommended. We finished off with a generous slice of coffee cake and lemon cake (which could've been more lemony, but that's just personal preference).

I certainly left the little tearoom feeling happier and content with life, a great place to spend the last day of 2012!

Joining the gym tomorrow - I'm one of those January suckers who's on a I'm-determined-to-get-healthy-
and-fit mindset. Lets hope it sticks eh?
